A 24-year-old man from Cumbria has been found dead at a ski resort in Andorra, the Foreign Office has said.

Police said Paul Rea from Milnthorpe appeared to have got lost in freezing temperatures after becoming separated from friends during a night out.

His body was found on Friday, covered in snow in the Envalira Tunnel near the French border.

The UK Foreign Office said his family have been informed and a post-mortem examination was carried out on Friday.

A spokesman for police in Andorra told Spanish news agency Europa Press the body showed "no signs of violence" and it was likely the skier had died of hypothermia.

Andorra is a tiny principality on the border between France and Spain which is ruled jointly by the leader of France and the Spanish Bishop of Urgel.
