Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has played down talk of a Lib Dem role in a coalition government at the spring party conference in Birmingham.

Mr Clegg played down talk of an alliance with either the Tories or Labour by telling delegates at the event that the 45 million UK voters were the "king-makers", rather than him.
